• God: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. God is Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer of life and is holy, faithful, compassionate, merciful, and rich in love. Our God is alive and active today and eternally exists as three: God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. (Genesis 1–3; Exodus 3; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 21–22 )
• Jesus Christ: The Son of God, born to Mary and Joseph, lived a life proclaiming the kingdom of God, teaching, healing, and overcoming evil. Jesus is the crucified and resurrected one who ascended to the right hand of God. Jesus gave his life so that we may have life, and he is our Lord and Messiah. (John 3:16; Matthew 4:23; Acts 2:36; Philippians 2:5–11)
• Holy Spirit: Living within God’s people individually and collectively, the Spirit of God guides, unites, transforms, and gives us power to live for God. (John 14:15–21, 23–27, 16:7–15; Acts 2:1–13; Romans 8:1–17; 1 Corinthians 12:1–11; 2 Corinthians 3:17–18)
• Humanity: God created human beings in His image and trusts His creation to us. Because of sin, suffering, and evil our relationship with God is broken. Separated from our Creator, we are all in need of salvation from God through Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:1–2, 1:26–28; Isaiah 59:1-2; Acts 17:24–28)
• Eternity: In the end, as in the beginning, there is God. God is eternal and everlasting, and this world is not. Heaven and hell, the two terms describing eternity, are both understood in relation to God. Hell is the absence of God, and heaven is where and when God is. One day, Christ will return bringing heaven to earth, there will be a final judgment, and God’s people will see God’s face and dwell with God forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 John 3:2; Revelation 21–22)
